Timeline - Understanding Options
What trade offs will you need to think about?
In this phase, we will be developing long term strategies to achieve the vision described by the community in the Envisioning the Future phase of myPG through a series of workshops and community reviews.
There will be opportunities for your review and input on the workshop results after each workshop in this phase – see below for specific opportunities. Please get involved!
Scenarios Workshop:
We all know the future is uncertain. To help us think long term, we will start by developing “scenarios” – stories that describe different futures we may face. The community helped in this work listing the big forces that may affect Prince George in the future. This community engagement was open from February 2nd to February 9th.
February 2-9 Pre-Scenarios Workshop Community Input
Trends and Uncertainties survey. Gathers information on external factors that may affect Prince George. Community leaders and experts were interviewed; the community was engaged using an on-line brainstorming/prioritizing software.
February 11-12 Scenarios workshop
To describe our future as a few alternative scenarios, each one illustrating how different external factors might affect Prince George and our ability to achieve our goals.
We will use these scenarios in order to “test” strategies as they are being developed in the subsequent strategy workshops. Testing strategies as they are being developed against possible future scenarios ensures the strategy will work under future conditions we can predict, and allow the strategy to have better chance to work under actual future conditions, which we can’t predict.
